In today’s installment of the animal kingdom skull series, I give you Felis silvestris catus’ skull. More commonly known as the domestic cat.

I’ve already drawn a cat recently, but it had a bit more skin.
Obviously, check it out in big and with a shading attempt. And don’t forget the rest of the series.
Finally, the next one might be a vulture skull.

WMC Fest Showcase @ SXSW Recap

wmcfest:

It started with an email propositioning us to organize it all (bands, sound, promotion, flyers, gear, clean underwear?) in one week’s time, cushioned on each side by two 26-hour road trips (one through the very smokey mountains in a blistering rainstorm at 4 a.m.), dodging school and work in a rental van packed to the brim with banners, WMC merch, backline gear, pillows, yes-clean underwear, and four inaugurated ambassadors for Weapons of Mass Creation that did a fucking fantastic job for our FIRST ever Showcase in Austin during SXSW (Full story after the link).

And I finally have time to resume my work on this series. I started the drawing more than 2 weeks ago!

Today, I give you a common starling skull. If you want to be fancy or know zoology, you can call it the skull of a Sturnus vulgaris. The choice of this bird has been inspired to me by this piece from Luca Farinella, called Let’s talk about time. I reached out to him, and he was kind enough to share extra reference shots of the skulls with me.
The shot is actually a crop at 100%, just to give an idea of the level of details that’s possible using Sketchbok Pro and the Wacom Bamboo stylus.
Obviously, you should check it out in big, and check the other ones in the series.

These guys saw my brush pen lettering, loved it, and commissioned us to develop some apparel design featuring some.

I spent quite some time exploring things, and you should check the result out.
